Frankmusik vs Computer Club - Losing Streak

Frankmusik.

The song is pretty catchy and the rest of Elmweed seems to like it. Speaking of which, Family Feud on facebook is the devil and has possessed my roomies. I don't care what list of superpowers would give you an advantage in card games. The ability to stop time is more efficient than hyper-speed, and ESP has a broader range of perceptive faculties than mind-reading, which means that these lists are unsound anyways.

By the way, press the bolded downward arrow on the SoundCloud player to download.

Subsonic (Elite Force Remix) - Excision

Can't say that I'm a big fan of dubstep but I like this banger...maybe because I liked the idea of a kind-of-hot, blue space alien band ever since watching Daft Punk's Interstella 5555. Mind you, the extraterrestrials in this song seem more like Decepticons planning to wipe off the "humanoids with subsonic base". Hmm.

Oliver Koletzki & Fran - Arrow and Bow (Marek Hemmann Remix)

Oliver Koletzki & Fran

I wish I could talk about how all these tracks make me want to drink and dance and rage and party and drink Four Loko... but this song did help me concept map the crap out of my impending paper.

Not-techno Tuesdays: Rocketeer - Far East Movement (ft. Ryan Tedder)

Most everyone is familiar with the song, G6 by the Far East Movement (ft. Cataracs). It has that inexplicable ability to turn even the tamest partygoer into "that girl who was dancing hard on top of the table at [collegetown bar]." You know what I mean. I'm pretty sure Level b plays this song at least 3.5 times per night.

And for good reason. The Far East Movment has received praised across the industry for repping a unique style of music. And they're repping Asians! Kev Nish, Prohgress, J-Spliff and DJ Virman represent different generations of Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Filipino ancestry within the Asian American community. Whoo never have Asian musical artists looked so fly without a string instrument (no offense Yo Yo Ma). I'll toast to that.
"Far East Movement (also known as FM) has bridged the gap between underground party records and mainstream hip-hop and pop. They blend elements of hip-hop, pop, electro and dance to create an original sound and lifestyle they call ‘Free Wired’."

The group blew up from the Koreatown, LA scene way back when. The video above is a sick visual interpretation of what most people associate with the group.

However, what people don't usually associate with the group is mellowness... until now! It's nice to know that even hardcore electrolites also have a soft spot.

It's a sweet, feel-good mix between jazzy notes, beats and falsetto. Justin Timberlake meets Jason Mraz, but asian. I like it. And it's heartfelt and inspirational. Tear.

Enjoy!

Pretty Lights - Looking For Love (But Not So Sure)

Derek "Pretty Lights" Smith once was a student at University of Colorado at Boulder. He dropped out and became a full-time electronic artist and started performing at Bonnaroo, Coachella and Ultra Music Festival. Imagine that.

Miike Snow

HARD Haunted Mansion 10.31.10 (photo cred: Steph T)

This past weekend one of my friends flew to LA and saw Calvin Harris, Boys Noize, Nero, Bloody Beetroots and a special surprise set by Miike Snow at the HARD fest 2010. I am bitter.

There's some pretty good Miike Snow remixes out there, but I'm feeling the originals right now.

Not-techno Tuesdays: Brazilian Girls - Good Time

Too much stress from work & wondering what I'm "doing with my life." This song makes me feel happy.

Some people just want lie on the beaches in the Caribbean / Some people want to do crazy things to green amphibians / Some people want some people to do as they please / We just want to have a good time / All the time

pretty true...

Moar Types of Ghosts 'N Stuff (Rettro Remix) - Deadmau5

Moar Types Of Ghosts 'N Stuff (Rettro Remix) by Rettro

Happy Halloween Eve!

My memories of last night include cheers-ing everyone I met with a giant pink flowery teacup (I was the mad hatter). I carried that thing around everywhere... Until it met its unfortunate death and shattered to a gazillion little pieces on the Dinos dance floor. It was a very sad ending of my night.

Anyway, in honor of Halloween, I thought this was an appropriate party mix for all those pt. 2 monster mashes going on tonight -- cheers

Not-Techno Tuesdays: Q & A - Fink

Fink

Chrysan and I are trying to incorporate different types of music into our blog...so every Tuesday hereafter will feature some non-electronic music that perhaps you haven't heard of.

Fin "Fink" Greenall's blues-y voice hits just the right spot for me in "Q&A". Prepare to get relaxed.

Florence + The Machine feat. Gilbere Forte' - Dog Days Are Over (Yeasayer Remix)

Florence + The Machine

Crush party came and went, and I successfully did not pass out in the bathroom stall this time. For all those who survived (RIP Mang), the dog days (in the hangover/awkwardtexts/vomitus-y sense) are definitely over.

Some of my favorite things get only better when they are mixed together. Some things just don't, like coffee and Ovaltine (really, they don't).

As for this song, decide for yourself.

Silvia (Redial Remix) - Miike Snow

Miike Snow.

The Swedish trio was formed in Stockholm in 2007. None of them are named Miike or Snow, although one of them is named Pontus.
They frequently wear white face paint or masks in their concerts as a tribute to a geisha named Silvia who had an affair with Pontus (who I suspect is the guy with the painted mustache in the picture) and had his child but then ran away with a Belgian financier to escape her evil okā-san.
Ok I made this up, but it makes sense and is a lot cooler than wearing white face paint for no reason.

Scatterbrain (The Twelves Remix) - Radiohead

Thom Yorke of Radiohead.

Scatterbrain (The Twelves Remix) by fizgigit

So what, I have a weakness for Radiohead and little men named Thom.

I am a recovering addict of viral websites that may or may not include fml.com, mlia.com, postsecret.com, etc etc etc, so it was really messed up that my friend showed me dearblankpleaseblank.com.

An example:

Dear Digestive Tract,
